However, the company plans to host a \u201cglobal event\u201d set for \u201cthe early part of next year,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/blizzcon.com\/en-us\/news\/23655116\" rel=\"nofollow\">the company announced on Wednesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBuilding an in-person BlizzCon is an epic and complex affair that takes many months of preparation\u2014not just for us, but also for the many talented production partners, esports pros, hosts, entertainers, artists, and other collaborators we team up with locally and globally to put all of the pieces together,\u201d Saralyn Smith, BlizzCon\u2019s executive producer, said in a statement. \u201cThe ongoing complexities and uncertainties of the pandemic have impacted our ability to properly move forward on many of these fronts, and ultimately we\u2019re now past the point where we\u2019d be able to develop the kind of event we\u2019d want to create for you in November.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The global event for next year will comprise an online show like the BlizzConline that took place <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/2\/19\/22285677\/blizzcon-2021-news-trailers-diablo-wow-burning-crusade\" rel=\"nofollow\">in February<\/a> and \u201csmaller in-person gatherings.\u201d The company says it will reveal more about that event in the future.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BlizzCon, Blizzard\u2019s annual fan convention, has been canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, like it was last year.
